Impressive Patna Pirates beat Bengal Warriors 33-27
Patna Pirates aided by a superlative display from raider Pardeep Narwal scored an impressive 33-27 win over hosts Bengal Warriors in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 4 Kolkata leg.
The Bengal Warriors roared back through Monu as they managed to equalise the score at 4-a-piece by the 5th minute. Patna Pirates managed to pull apart by 2 points, but despite their best efforts, the Bengal Warriors managed to equalise once again as they made it 7-7 after 11 minutes. The visitors reduced the home team to 2 men when Rajesh Mondal came back to his half with 2 touch points in the 15th minute.
By the end of the half, the lead had increased to 2 points as Arjun Singh prepared himself for a tough half-time talk as the hosts lead 12—10.
The all out was inflicted in second half by Surjeet as the home crowd was left shell-shocked by the score line as the visitors led by 8 points.
His teammate, Pardeep forced a loose tackle from the opposition as Patna Pirates took a lead.Bengal were down to three with 7 minutes into the second half. Presented with a do or die raid, Pardeep then executed the perfect Dubki and followed it up by taking out Nilesh Shinde and Monu Goyat toinflict an all out.
For Bengal Warriors the inability of their captain Nilesh Shinde to score no more than a solitary point was the main reason for a weak performance. Had he fired then Bengal Warriors would have definitely made a match of it as their other prime raider Monu Goyat was in fine form. In fact he was the top scorer with a tally of 10 including 3 bonus points and a solitary tackle point.
However, the Patna Pirates, through brilliant raiding by Mondal & Pardeep, ensured the home team didn’t get any closer as they sealed out a 6-point win.
