Iran posts close win over Kenya (33-28)
A super show by Abolfazl Maghsoudlou (5 points), the Iranian who has been a revelation in Prokabaddi Season 4 enabled Iran strengthen their team with a 33-28 win over Kenya in the Match 11 of the Kabaddi World Cup 2016. Said Ghaffari (3) had good support from fellow raider Mohsen Maghsoudlou (3) in a match that was dominated by raiders. Iran won by a lead of five points (33-28) against Kenya. In the first half, Iran was ahead by a lead of eight points (15-7) and carried the same form in the second half to emerge winners. Elphas Otieno and David Mosambayi of Kenya made the rival defenders dance to their tune with 3 and 7 points respectively. But there was absolutely no support from the others which led to their team’s defeat. The first three points of the game were picked up by Iran in the first 3 minutes of the game, who were desperate for a good start. The Iran widened the margin to 15-7 in the 15th minute. Odhiambo Ogak followed Iran’s lead into the opposition half but is brought down by the strong defense of Kenya to close scores in the second half 29-27 in favor of the Iran. An all-out inflicted in the 11th minute put the winners in a commanding position. The Iran kept extending their lead with Kenya close on their heals, ending their night with a five point victory.
