(patna pirates vs jaipur pink panthers final )Patna Pirates managed to beat their neighbors Jaipur Pink Panthers 37-29 to remain Champions of Pro Kabaddi season 4 at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabd. Patna Pirates have now become the only team to have won the title twice in the history of Pro Kabaddi.

The match seemed to be tilting the winners’ way in the first half after they made up for the early deficit to lead 17-11 at half-time. The Season 1 Champions raced to an early 3-0 lead after Ajay Kumar and Jasvir Singh were successful in their raids. However, Pardeep Narwal won 2 points for his side as the Patna Pirates levelled the score in the 6th minute. Jaipur Pink Panthers’ Ajay Kumar conjured up a superb raid to restore the Jaipur Pink Panthers’ advantage, but Surjeet Singh and Pardeep Narwal restored parity by the 10th minute. Jaipur Pink Panthers captain Jasvir Singh took things upon himself and he delivered in the 12th minute by scoring 2 points from his 2 raids to save his team from the verge of an all out. Jasvir was tackled in the next raid as last season’s finalists completed the all out and made it 13-9 on the scorecard. However, by the 15th minute, Patna Pirates extended their lead to 6 points by reducing the defending champions to just 3 men. The half continued with both the teams exchanging blows as the half concluded with Patna Pirates leading by 1 point 16-15.

The Gachibowli Indoor Stadium was left stunned after the Jaipur suffered another all out 2 minutes into the second half when high-flying Surjeet got both the remaining players out in a single raid. The crowd, however, cheered the team on and the men in green responded by scoring 15 unanswered points to turn the tables and leave the Jaipur Pink Panthers’ coach Balwan Singh shocked. On the defending side, the Patna Pirates managed just five points in the first half and their opponents too did not fare well in that department.
The league leaders played cleverly and did not let the Jaipur Pink Panthers find a way back into the game despite the best efforts of their captain Jasvir. With the teams separated by 2 points, Rajesh was tackled by the Patna Pirates and Pardeep made it a 4-point game with the12 minutes left to play. Jaipur Pink Panthers did try to stage a comeback through some spirited display by Jasvir and co. but that wasn’t enough as Ajay who was becoming ineffective had to be substituted. That was the helplessness of the losing coach Balwan Singh an astute tactician otherwise. He walked deep into the Patna Pirates half, striding in an aloof manner. But it was going to prove costly for him and his team. As the Patna Pirates players managed to trap him on the left edge of the mat, and lead by Fazel, leapt on Jasvir like their life depended on it. It was over and the Patna Pirates got the extra point.

The Patna Pirates were staring at an all-out till Sanjeev Baliyan withdrew his captain for Hadi and he responded brilliantly. He got a point with a tackle to turn the tide. With five minutes left and the score 31-22, all that the winners had to do was hang on to the lead which they did admirably and was proclaimed champions for the second time in 4 Seasons.

The Patna Pirates sealed the match, with the scoreboard reading 37-29 in a match that went literally down to the last second; and actually a few moments beyond.

The match was being billed as a grudge match. And the contest delivered big time. Both the teams gave their best and the indication was clear: the rivalry between these two teams was far from over this match, and the way this match ended signaled that the next season we will see Jaipur Pink Panthers approach this fixture with some serious unfinished business in their minds.
