Jang Kun Lee rescues Republic of Korea stay unbeaten with 35-32 win over Bangladesh



The Republic of Korea showed their opponents Bangladesh the stuff champions are made of. Keeping their cool in a match where they trailed their opponents for almost 30 minutes of the match they turned the tables on their inexperienced rivals to score a heart-stopping 35-32 win. Bangladesh came roaring out of the blocks and raced to a 10-0 lead and reduced Korea to just 3 men. An all-out was inflicted by Bangladesh on Korea in the 5th minute. However, Dong Geon Lee (4 points) stopped Ziaur Rahman (7 points) to open his team’s account and change the momentum in their favour. Dong Geon Lee returned successfully. At half time the match was evenly poised at 15-15 with the lead changing hands all the time. The second half too was exciting but the Republic of Korea was again able to remain at least 4-5 points clear of their rivals. Jang Kun Lee raised their game for the big match. He scored a total of 14 points including two tackle point and twelve raid points with two bonus points for the Republic of Korea. Tae Beom Kim bagged three raid points in this match. Bangladesh fought on gamely with their star raider and skipper Aruduzzaman Munshi (8 points) and Ziaur Rahman (7 points). The Republic of Korea posted their third successive win and remained on first place as their task to make the semifinals has become easy.
