Season’s biggest upset, Dabang Delhi beats Patna Pirates 33-15
Dabang Delhi beat Patna Pirates easily at 33-15 in the battle of the benches to break the streak in Pro Kabaddi League Season 4 at Patna.
It was Dabang Delhi’s Meraj Sheykh who drew first blood with a quick touch point in the 3rd minute after a series of empty raids by both the teams.
By the end of the 8th minute, Pardeep Narwal got his first touch point of the night to reach an important landmark ‘ 50 raid points in the 4th season of Pro Kabaddi League and thus became only the second player to reach the milestone with only Rohit Kumar from Bengaluru Bulls ahead of him.
After a low-scoring start, the score stood at two points each for both sides at the five-minute mark. However, that was soon to change as the bottom dwellers of the table showed their class and pulled off a massive spree to garner a nine-point lead. Some rock solid defending by the Dabang Delhi side lead by Sachin Shingade combined with some expert raiding by Meraj Sheykh saw Delhi team take the score to 11-2.
It seemed as if the Pirates were caught completely off guard as the Dabang Delhi piled on the pressure early on with some supreme defending and expert raiding.
Only nitin Madane with 10 aid points stood in the way of utter dominance
Dabang Delhi continued their dominance in the second half as well. Pardeep was tackled by the Delhi defence, which was followed by a surrender raid as the Dabang Delhi inflicted their second all out and the score was now 25-12.
The second all-out affected by Dabang Delhi in the 31st minute helped them stamp their superiority.
The score of 15 is the lowest total scored by any team in the history of Prokabaddi league.
