Rahul Runs The Show For Titans As They Butcher Pirates To Grab a Win
Our Predictions: Telugu Titans : Patna Pirates
Telugu Titans marched into the semi-finals of Pro Kabaddi League Season 4 2016 in spectacular style by thumping a weakened Patna Pirates side 46-25. Led by talismanic raider Rahul Chaudhari, the Telugu Titans recovered from a relatively slow start to put the after burners on and destroyed Patna, who looked really lack lustre on the night. The win for Telugu Titans took their tally to 45 points, making them the third team to qualify for the knockouts.
Patna Pirates came into the game quite relaxed, having already qualified for the semi-finals, and it reflected in their line-up as they were without talismanic captain Dharmaraj Cheralathan, Rajesh Mondal and Kuldeep Singh. Telugu Titans, on the other hand, fielded a strong starting seven with Rahul, Sukesh and Sandeep Narwal all starting for the team from Hyderabad.
Skipper Rahul Chaudhary, known for his raiding skills came up with a sterling performance to lead his team Telugu Titans to a crushing 46-25 win over Patna Pirates. The first half belonged to Rahul of the Telugu Titans while Fazel, of the Patna Pirates, surprisingly went without a point. The Telugu Titans inflicted their first all out immediately after the break. It took Rahul to inflict the all out on the last two men standing for the Patna Pirates to get into his scoring mode. The score at that stage was 14-7 after his successful raid at the breaks.
As compared to the earlier game between Delhi and Bengal, this game had a more conservative approach but was more tactically engaging. Patna did not look like they were a team already qualified and without a couple of key players. They kept on piling the pressure on Telugu Titans, who responded in great fashion through Rahul and their defense. Telugu raced into a lead of two points with just eight and a half minutes remaining in the first half.
Patna Pirates were down to three men and they were down to just two men.
An interesting battle ensued between Rahul and Fazel with the latter not being able to get the better of the most successful raider in the league in the first half and vice versa in the second half.
The Telugu Titans kept piling on the pressure and looked more menacing as the half progressed. Patna, on the other hand, did not show a lot of urgency in their approach and rightly so. Rahul did the bulk of raiding for Telugu Titans and he was quite stellar in the first period. Telugu Titans went into the first half with a huge lead of ten points, looking quite comfortable.
But the Telugu Titans swung their axes again and caught hold of Abolfazel who was their most successful raider. Meanwhile Athul and Rahul kept scoring touches. And as time ticked by Patna found themselves with no course to make a comeback into the game. 37 minutes in, they were down 35-17.
It was already over. The end was as emphatic as the start for Telugu Titans. They won the match 46-25.
