Poland posted a big win over Iran in the 25th match of Kabaddi World Cup 2016 at The Arena by TransStadia in Ahmedabad. Poland won the match by a lead of 16 points (41-25) with standout performances from star raiders and skipper Michal Spiczko and the not so heralded Filip Szczeski in attack.
Poland swelled his team’s tally to 24-16 on the stroke of the interval. The match was won and lost at that stage itself. Michal Spiczko pocketed 12 points while Piotr Pamulak had 9 to his credit.
Gholamabbas Korouki and Abozar Mighani of Iran also had high scores of 7 and 5 respectively in a fast and furious game that entertained the enthusiastic crowd. The inability of the Iran defence to rise to the occasion proved to be the most notable difference between the two sides.
The resumption of play saw Jan Baranowicz guide his forces astutely. Michal Spiczko himself added four to his tally while getting another all-out which boosted his team’s tally to 37-21 in the 38th minute. With both Meraj Sheykh and Fazel Atrachali looking off-colour and the Poland raiders outwitting the Iran defence, the mountain to the play-offs looks mighty to climb for Iran.
Fazel Atrachali got injured and the introduction of Mohsen Maghsoudlou also proved ineffective.
