Ravinder Pahal has seriously under performed for Dabang Delhi

Surprising defeats for Dabang Delhi

Dabang Delhi has the worst possible start to the season so far in Pro Kabaddi season 3. Two losses in two matches which include one loss against the comparatively weaker and younger side of Bengaluru Bulls lead by Surjeet Narwal.

The raiders lead by Kashiling Adake have done a reasonably good job but the defense of Delhi lead by captain Ravinder Pahal has been totally ineffective and almost damaging in both the matches.

Best Team on paper, Poor Performance in the Field

Delhi was one of the top teams on paper as per the raider strength as well as in their defense strength, but now their weaknesses have been exposed.  Bengaluru Bulls played their strategy well, keeping Adake out right from the first raid of Surjeet Narwal (even though that was Adake’s error). It was upto Surjeet Singh and Ravinder Pahal to keep Dabang Delhi in pace with the Bulls, but it was not to be.

Ravinder Pahal with some poor and silly challenges on the raiders gave away too much points to the opposition that it was nearly impossible for the delhi to make a comeback after being all out in the first few minutes and the Bulls getting a 9-0 lead in under 7 minutes.

Pahal 3.0 a mere shadow of Pahal 2.0!

He was committing silly mistakes like initiating tackles unnecessarily and gifting points to the opposition. This was not expected from the star defender of Season 2. The fans were expecting that as this was the first match, players take some time to get used to the new season and gave the team the benefit of doubt. All that expectation was shattered when the team faced Telugu Titans for the second match.

In the first twenty minutes, Telugu was leading 26-10 and the match looked like a professional team playing against a defense level of amateurs, Pahal looked lost in the middle of turf.

After the half time it was the raiders who gave a little respectability to the scoreline by making some points in the second half.

Ravinder Pahal, who was supposed to lead the defense from the front along with shouldering the responsibility of captaincy spent the most time on the benches along with Surjeet Singh. What could be the reasons behind this awful performance by Dabangg Delhi?

1. Ravinder Pahal’s defense
2. Relying too much on Ravinder Pahal
3. …..and captaincy from Ravinder Pahal

Although it is not fair to judge a team performance by blaming a single player, the effect his performance can have on the team is huge, especially in a fast paced game like Kabaddi.

The raiders are doing their part and now the defense must hold their fort.
Come on Delhi!! Let’s show them the Dabangg!!
