Defending champions Patna Pirates finally put the brakes on Puneri Paltan’s dream run in the Season 4 of the Prokabaddi with a convincing 6 points win aided by fine performances from Pardeep Narwal and the Iranian defender Fazel Atrachaali.

Last season’s semi-finalists Puneri paltan made a fine start to their campaign in the first two matches but were run over by Patna by a comfortable 6 points margin.

Puneri Paltan took on the Patna Pirates in front of their home crowd. The Patna Pirates looked to build upon their fantastic record of not losing against Pune while Puneri Paltan was counting on the performance in their previous encounter where they lost to them in the Season 3 Semifinals by a narrow margin. Alas, it was the Patna Pirates who pulled off another victory this time around.

The half-time score stood 16-10 in the favour of Patna Pirates.

Puneri Paltan captain took things upon himself and he delivered in the 22nd minute by scoring 1 point from his raid and one from a tackle to get the opponent team on the verge of an all out. But in the next raid, Bajirao and Dharmaraj Cheralathan pulled off an amazing Super Tackle on Nitin tomar.
It was Pardeep and Surjeet Singh doing most of the damage. The former had five plus a bonus with one two point raid. Pune came back strongly with a set of good tackles by Ravinder Pahal and Joginder Narwal.

With 5 minutes to go in the match, Manjeet Chillar’s team trailed by 8 points as they set up a tense finale. However, the Patna Pirates, through brilliant raiding by Mondal and intelligent captaincy by Dharmaraj Cheralathan ensured the home team didn’t get any closer as they sealed out a 6-point win.
