Season 3 Finalists U Mumba put the brakes on Bengal Warriors in the Pro Kabaddi League Season 4 with a convincing 26-18 win aided by fine performances from all-rounder Rishank Devadiga and defender Surjeet.
U Mumba extended their lead at the top with a 8 point win over Bengal Warriors. Monu Goyat’s 3 points went in vain as Rishank and Surjeet with 5 and 4 points respectively stole the show at the Gachibowli stadium,Hyderabad.
Till the 3rd minute, both the teams exchanged blows and the scorecard read U Mumba 2-2 Bengal Warriors.
Ravi Dalal got the crowd on its feet with a brilliant raid that saw the Bengal Warriors earn 2 points to make the scores 2-5.
The match was won and lost in the first half as Bengal Warriors trailed by a 9-14 margin after facing an all-out. The first came in the 12th minute as Rishank Devadiga pulled off a three-point super raid. He kept scoring and so did Captain Anup. Only Girish and Monu showed some semblance of a fight. He scored three points but was caught as many times too.
Suresu Kumar was involved in the first major action of the second half as he returned to his half with 2 points after a successful raid and extended the lead to 5 points.
Girish then came up with two good frontal blocks and a double thigh hold to get rid of Rakesh Kumar and the Bengal Warriors’ star raider Monu Goyat to make it 22-15 with the last five minutes call given by the referee. The losers had to come with a superlative effort but that wasn’t to be. The U Mumba had the last laugh. The losers in the bargain lost an opportunity to grab one point for not losing the tie by less than a seven point margin.
