Superb Rahul Extends Titans Unbeatable Run
Telugu Titans ably led by their captain Rahul Chaudhary scored an important 36-28 win over Dabang Delhi K.C. which pushed them up to the second place in the league ladder of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 4.
Rahul opened the proceedings with a successful raid while Kashi was unable to return to his half as the Telugu Titans made it 2-0 inside the opening minute.
The first 5 minutes saw both the teams exchange blows in front of the full Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium in Kolkata. The Telugu Titans took a 2-point lead after Rahul’s successful raid was complemented by tackling Lee in the resultant raid. However, Meraj Sheykh and Selvamani returned successfully from their raids as the Bengal Warriors won 4 straight points to overturn their deficit and lead 6-4.
For Telugu Titans who were shot out three times in the match by their rivals their lead raiders Rahul excelled with 14 in a high scoring match which was dominated by the attackers.
Inspite of a cagey first half, the second half started with a flurry of points when Rahul won 4 points for the home team in his raid and inflicting an all out.
The Dabang Delhi didn’t take long to restore parity in the game as Selvamani won 3 points in 2 raids to silence the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium, which was bouncing before. With the scores level at 14 each with 10 minutes to go, the visitors raced clear of the home team. After Meraj was tackled by the Dabang Delhi defence, Selvamani reduced the Telugu Titans to just 1 man. Rahul took 4 points including a bonus in the next raid after a successful review.
But it was always an uphill task. As Rahul got into his stride, he kept on garnering points consistently. The Telugu Titans defense led by Sandeep Narwal and supported by Sandeep Dhull was superb and Jasmer Singh Gulia too getting into the catching act the match slipped out of the hosts grasp.
At this stage, all the Delhi team could hope for was a defeat by 7 points or less as that would ensure they would win 1 point. With both the teams separated by just 7 points, Sachin Shingade tackled Rahul in the buzzer raid to deny themselves even that joy as they completed a dominant win.
